Vision / / The Effectiveness of Simple Vision

Guest Post by Caleb Waid

This is the time of the year that all executive, lead, and senior pastors want to know, “So what are the students doing next year?” My answer is always simple…

“We are going the Gather, Plant, and Spread.”

My answer will also be the same in December of 2017, 2018, and 2019. This is our student mission. It’s plastered on walls, websites, and artwork… basically everything. We are not coming up with another catchy phrase, reinventing the wheel, or discovering the one name that hasn’t been used yet for an event to make that our vision. Instead, we will probably Gather differently than we did last year, Plant the gospel in unique ways, and show students new ways to Spread the Word. Our budget will be broken down into these three concepts, each of the lessons guided by them, and when a senior graduates, they will know “Gather, Plant, and Spread.”

I am a huge fan of keeping your vision and mission the same as last year, as long as: students are being saved, disciples are being made, and parents are getting involved. This strategy can be the same with

“Love God, Love People, Change the World”

“Know, Sow, Go” … I could go on.

Regardless, 2017 should be about approaching everything to “323 it”.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” [Colossians 3:23].
